Monday Movie: To Sir, With Love

This classic 1967 British film, starring Sidney Poitier, was a landmark work for its time. And the title song by Lulu is just as catching 😀

Poitier plays Mark Thackery, an engineer from California who takes a job in the East End of London to makes ends meet while he looks for a job in his field. The other faculty members describe the students, from rough neighborhoods, and mostly rejected by other schools, as being contemptuous. One teacher is actually afraid of them.

As the story proceeds, the students show a lack of interest in school, and pull pranks on their new teacher, until he decides to turn things around and teach them self-respect.

The movie appears in 7 parts, and can be seen full-screen by clicking the icon in the lower right hand corner. SO now all that’s left to do is crack open your lunch box, unwrap a bologna sandwich, pop a straw in your favorite juice box and enjoy 😀 (Part 2 will appear in another Monday Movie post)
